I am working on a Harry Potter version of Family Feud for Atlanta HP's January Party. Remember how that game had questions (like 'Name a musician who goes by one name' or 'Name a unit of currency used in a country other than the US.') where 100 people were surveyed and they put the top answers on the board, and the teams had to try to a guess the answers. Well we are trying to survey 100 HP fans to get our game's top answers, and we could really use your help. We have surveyed 53 HP fans so far, but we need 47 more!! If you haven't done one of our surveys yet, could you please take 5 minutes and fill out the survey posted behind the cut. Thanks! I really appreciate it!

Also if you live in or around the Atlanta area, we would love to invite you to join Atlanta HP: an adult HP fan group in Atlanta. We have fun HP parties once a month! Check out our livejournal [profile] atlanta_hp or email [email protected] for more info.

Happy New Year, Harry Potter fans!

It's going to be a big one - another movie and the final book of the awesome series. So my question is...

What is your Harry Potter desire for the new year?
What do you want to see from the last book? What scenes are your favorites from "Order of the Phoenix" and which do you hope to see in the film?

Comment away, kiddies.
[identity profile] dramawench.livejournal.com
'Sup, kids? It's been WAY too long since we've had a post here!

I spent the weekend at Dragon*Con, here in Atlanta and spent a large chunk of my time at the YA Track events. And lo and behold, besides the 8 panels that focused completely on Harry Potter, lots of the others did as well. Though all of the HP stars backed out, it was still very cool to see what an impact Harry had on the convention.

So what Harry stuff have you all been involved with lately? Did anyone attend Lumos? Is anyone planning on attending Phoenix Rising? I know that I am and I can't wait!

Hello, [community profile] hp_southeast! If any of you are around the Atlanta area and are thinking about attending Phoenix Rising, please pop over to [profile] atlanta_hp and take this poll. Shenanigans are afoot!

In my quarterly effort to be a Good Moderator, I present you with an obligatory post-GoF Poll:

[Poll #616861]

Also, if you are so inclined, please comment with the following (because I hate text boxes in polls):

-a moment you loved
-a moment that was exactly how you pictured it in the book
-what subplot exclusion bothered you, and why
-one scene that was cut from the book to movie that you were kind of dying to see
-one thing you disliked/hated

I will post my answers here soon. Feel free to pass link around!

Hi, I'm Ashleigh. I live in Houma, Louisiana. I've been in the HP fandom for a couple of years now.

If anyone is around the Houma/Thib area and would like to join a group of us in going see the midnight showing of GOF at the Palace 10 in Houma, don't be afraid. We don't bite, hard. ;) We're probably going to meet around 11:00 if at all possible.

Just comment here and I'll get back to you.

I am Traci, and I live in Atlanta. I am an the organizer of a monthly Harry Potter meetup group in the Atlanta area. It all first started with the release of OOTP when I met three other Atlanta area HP fanatics through meetup.com. We tried to organize meetups through this website, but nobody ever really showed up. I decided to start trying (with the help of friends, of course) to organize them myself. Through my LJ account, the POA line party and word of mouth, I met many other HP fans, and we now have over 70 people on our meetup mailing list. We usually have between 20 to 25 people at each of our meetups. We have a couple members of our group who are 16, but everyone else is in their 20's, 30's and 40's. I send out the info for our meetups/parties each month through Evite.com, and I have set up an email list to send these evites and any other important information. If you are interested in being added to the email list and receiving info about our meetups, just email me at [email protected]. Also, we recently set up a LJ, so we can post about our meetups, and other fun Atlanta activities [livejournal.com profile] atlanta_hp. Come join us!!

It's brand new, so it's just getting started. But check it out, if you're interested in things to do in southeast Florida. Read the bio to see if it's for you.

If this type of post isn't allowed, I apologize. Please delete/ignore it.

Okay, there seems to be some interest in setting up a Room of Requirement for all the Southern HP fans. Before we make any decisions...who doesn't love a poll? Get to ticking!

[Poll #527766]
[identity profile] athenienne.livejournal.com
So, I was on the Witching Hour's website today, and noticed that we have yet to set up a nifty little sub-meeting for all the south-easters in attendance. If you haven't heard about these, the info is on the Rooms of Requirement page. Ideas, anyone? It looks like we still have plenty of location choices at this point.
